One week and counting...

Here is an upload of an article I wrote for the Adams Avenue Herald. And since it is of a timely nature, I wanted you to have it advance, too.

The “dog days of summer” occur during the hottest and muggiest part of the season. The dictionary defines “dog days” as...the period between early July and early September when invincible heat usually occurs in the northern hemisphere. For me, I know events and energies begin to get sluggish.

Today, “dog days” occur during the period between July 3 and August 11. This cycle evolved because of our early ancestors who were avid star-watchers and noticed that in the summer, Sirius, the “dog star,” rises and sets with the sun. This period of time, from 20 days before the the brightest of the stars in Canis Major (the big dog) also happens to be the brightest star in the night sky.

Not much exciting seems to happen during this time. Which is exactly why I chose August to create a new holiday. With the exception of my birthday…

Post-Asilomar

It was frustrating to not be abe to have full Internet access while gone. Where I stayed, I had to go to the lobby to get online with the wireless connection. And the times that I was ready to do that, it was occupied. And when I got home, I could not get either computer to work. Turns out that my AirPort was no longer working and I had to go to the Apple store and get a new one. I got the new AirPort express so I can be wireless anywhere. Way cool.
Now I am connected again. Whew. I need to get caught up....

Yesterday's Sunday service was a challenging one. I found that today when I woke up, I was exhausted. Guess I used a lot of adrenaline. If any church members who read this blog was not at Sunday service, I recommend you get a copy of the CD.

Last night, as part of a belated birthday celebration, i was indulged in watching a big screen version of one my all time favorite films, "West Side Story." That was such a well-done musical film. The choreography still gives me …
